![]() Perhaps this is the amount of data needed, but not sure why its suddenly growing, and maybe just a setting or two can dramatically change my space used without really impacting my user experience. Is there a good way to determine what is going on, or to clean up these folders? I would think that it would auto purge any old and stale meta data, but something tells me it is not.įor the sake of a comparison I have a Library with: What I am wondering is if its pulling in way more metadata than needed for each of these items (like tons of posters, etc) or perhaps I have duplicate data and it has all the old Metadata still and now is creating a duplicate of everything under a new ID. I recently had to rebuild my library as my Anime Scanner stopped working and I also added a 2nd NAS to start upgrading my old 1080P content to 4K. I checked log files to see if logs were consuming the space (I did have debug logging turned on) but the log files were small, it appears that all the space being used is the Media and Metadata folders and I am not sure why. Today I started to investigate the why and it already in one day grew from 45GB to 61GB when I have not added much to my library in the last few years, most of this is old stuff that I have had forever. I ended up extending it to 90GB about the max I can fit on my SSD datastore for my VM's. The other day things were going strange and it would not update, come to find out I ran out of disk space on a 45GB disk. I have Plex installed on a Linux VM and all my actual media is on a NAS so I have not needed to keep the Plex VM disk very large as it only holds the Metadata. Doing so cuts down on distortion, black borders and other artifacts, and ensure the image is clean and crisp even on a large display. First, you want to obey the following ratios and sizes for the art you add. I use Subler, which is specifically for MP4 files, but most mp3 tagging programs will do it for MP4's as well.Latest Regular Threads: No Stupid Q&A: Tool Tuesday: Build Help: Share Your Build: Submit Troubleshooting Post Files not showing up correctly? Selecting The Correct Size When hand picking custom artwork for your Plex media there are only a few rules to keep in mind. There's a number of apps that'll embed the image into the file. This requires that the file is an MP4, but if the OP is using JDownloader to save videos from YouTube, then the videos are already MP4's (I do the same thing with JDownloader for my own music videos). The next best option is to embed the poster into the file. The OP already has seperate sub folders with the image files in there, so literally all they have to do is rename the images and refresh metadata in plex. The simplest option is to keep each movie in its own sub folder, and put the image in there with the name "poster.jpg". Plex is a better overall system in many ways, but the the Android TV client. If you ever had to start your server over for some reason, or just wanted to try a different app than plex in the future, you'd lose all those changes made within plex's Edit screens. Of the three ways to do it, manually is the one I'd recommend the least, because your changes are tied permanently to that plex server. And I wouldn't recommend doing it manually. Banner art, though not used as frequently by Plex clients as poster and background art, is still something you may want to customize. ![]() Welcome to /r/Plex, a subreddit dedicated to Plex, the media server/client solution for enjoying your media!
